New Features and Intelligent Services from Office 365

Office 365 MiamiIn the last few months, Microsoft launched a variety of improvements to their intelligence services which use machine learning and complex algorithms to save you time while creating new content. So let’s see what’s new with Office 365.

Tap in Word and Outlook

Find and make use of relevant content internally from your business without leaving the document or email you’re editing. Powered by the Microsoft Graph, Tap surfaces documents, presentations and spreadsheets commonly used by you or provided by your coworkers. Simply click to incorporate desired elements from within those files, seamlessly integrating individual components such as slides, images, tables, graphics and charts. Content is pulled in with fidelity intact, so you can change table colors, put in a trend line or legend to a chart, edit text and more.

Availability: Tap is available today in Word and Outlook on Windows desktops, for Office 365 Business Premium, Enterprise E3 and E5 subscribers.


Designer in PowerPoint

Designer in PowerPoint can suggest professional design alternatives for bulleted process lists. This development builds upon previous Designer updates to include facial detection, color extraction and even more in images. Additional groups of text are going to be supported down the road, including timelines.

Availability: Designer support for text is now available for Office 365 subscribers in the Office Insider program.

Maps in Excel

Turn geographic data into professional visuals in a few steps, using the new Maps chart type in Excel. Powered by Bing Maps, Maps in Excel enable everyday users to produce geographic data visualizations that previously required the help of technical professionals or pricey external products. This makes it easier than ever for you to identify insights, trends and opportunities in your data directly in Excel, whether you’re at the office, at home or at school.

Availability: Available now for Office 365 subscribers.

Microsoft MyAnalytics

Formerly Delve Analytics, MyAnalytics provides insights that will help you understand how you may spend your time and energy at work, across meetings, email, time you designate as “focus time” and after-hours work. By doing this, you are able to set productivity goals and monitor progress over time. You can even gain visibility into who you collaborate with most. In coming updates, MyAnalytics will provide information to teams and Office 365 Groups to help them establish better ways of working together, uncover hidden inefficiencies and align on priorities.

Availability: Microsoft MyAnalytics is now available, included at no additional cost for Office 365 Enterprise E5 subscribers.

Assistance with Editor

Editor, your digital writing assistant in Word, has become even more helpful. The new Editor pane gives you additional information looking at advanced spelling, grammar and recommends ways of writing.  Additionally, it makes it simple to scan your entire document. This experience replaces the Spelling & Grammar pane and incorporates design recommendations to be accessible for the visually impaired.

Availability: The new Editor pane is now available for Office 365 customers in Office Insider Fast.

Office 365 Editor

Cortana Commitment Assistance

Cortana now blends with Outlook to remember things you said you’d do in email. For instance, Cortana will immediately identify if you’ve offered to send your manager a written report by the end of the week and after that proactively remind you so that you can follow up at just the right time.

Touch Bar support in Office for Mac

Touch Bar support is currently offered in Word, Excel and PowerPoint on Mac.
